Recurrent hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma: detection by FDG PET/CT.

Abstract

A 38-year-old man underwent a resection of the left lobe of the liver resection for a solitary hepatic epithelioid hemangioendothelioma. F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG PET/CT) was performed for surveillance. This demonstrated 2 foci of FDG uptake in the liver. These were resected and found to represent recurrent epithelioid hemangioendothelioma. Because of the high FDG uptake in this tumor, FDG PET/CT should be evaluated for its utility in recurrence detection.
