Abstract

Phytochemical investigation of the leaves of Aralia elata has led to the isolation of two new compounds 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl echinocystic acid (1) and 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl-(1 → 3)-β-D-glucopyranosyl oleanolic acid 28-O-β-D-glucopyranoside (2), together with four known compounds 3-6, which were isolated for the first time from this genus. Structural determination was accomplished by spectroscopic analysis, particularly by ¹³C NMR, 2D NMR, and HR-ESI-MS techniques.
