Löffler's parietal fibroplastic endocarditis--a case report

Abstract
A 62-year-old patient showed blood eosinophilia for 10 years. In-patient treatment was necessary several times on account of cardiac decompensation. The cardiac damage progressed irreversibly and the patient died from acute cardiac failure. Post-mortem examination revealed massive parietal fibrous formation in the left ventricle (endocarditis parietalis fibroplastica "Löffler"). Aetiology and pathogenesis remain unsolved. It is possible in the present case to postulate a causal connection with an incident of polytrauma many years ago.
