Abstract

Patient-specific custom facial cosmetic implants can provide improved augmentation and contours and can be produced via virtual surgical planning 3 dimensional (3D) planning and wax prototypes created on stereolithographic models. These implants can be made from solid silicone, 3D-printed titanium, and high-density porous polyethylene. Patient-specific custom facial cosmetic implants can have indications for special situations such as retreatment cases and immediate implant exchanges and can be used for zygomatic, mandibular angle, and chin augmentation. Internal fixation of these implants prevents implant migration and displacement. Heterotopic bone formation within implant capsule and bone ingrowth into 3D-printed titanium can occur.
