Abstract

The aim of the study was to evaluate the results of two surgical procedures for the treatment of congenital blepharoptosis. The first type was based on more or less extensive excision of the levator muscle from anterior (Everbusch) or posterior (Blascovics) approach. The second procedure was double-level resection with preservation of levator muscle or with its shortening, by plication of its peripheral part (Mustarde). The study comprises 38 cases with congenital blepharoptosis. Better results were obtained in the cases where the levator muscle has been preserved.
