Abstract

Background: Thromboembolic events are serious complications in patients with inflammatory bowel disease.

Methods: An 18-year-old patient, with a one year history of ulcerative colitis, presented with cerebral venous thrombosis during the decreasing period of corticotherapy after an active phase of the disease. Under treatment, the neurological disorder rapidly improved. No inherited thrombophilia was found.

Conclusions: The role of acquired and inherited risks factors is discussed.
